Feb 01, 1980 |
The Central Co of the Aachen Vol. FD is divided into two separate companies due to its overwhelming size of nearly 100 members. Franz Kaulen is the first commander of the new North Co. |
1982 |
The company moves into a new firehouse together with professional fire fighters of the Co 3, our home is from now on the new Fire Station 3, called the North Station. A large vehicle hall with 4 gates from both sides gives us enough space for our equipment. Above the hall, we find rooms for our garment, a classroom, a kitchen, the commander's office, a computer room, showers, restrooms and more. Today, we are still absolutely pleased with our station. |
1986 |
The new transporter is the first of several new vehicles to come. The old trucks which were built in the sixties are consequently replaced by new ones in the following years. |
1987 |
A new LF 16 engine replaces an old one. Chassis and motor now are equivalent to the four engines of the professional companies. |
1988 |
We receive another new engine. This LF 16-TS is special since it is made for civil protection purposes and therefore is financed by the German Federal Government. It is, as all other Fire Trucks in Aachen, completely equipped with a radio and an AT/SP system. |
1989 |
In 1989, the town partnership with Naumburg/Saale in the former German Democratic Republic is established. Since then, we visit each other at least once a year and have found lots of new friends. |
1991 |
Franz Kaulen
retires, and Ralf Kaulen .takes command of the company.
During our theoretical and practical training each Thursday evening, one engine can be dispatched also to minor fires to which we normally do not respond. These one-engine alarm calls have since then often been a welcome and neccessary support for our pofessionals and they are, additionally, very motivating for us. |
1995 |
Aachen FD changes its alarm system from analog to digital pagers. With them, it is now possible to either give a full alarm to the complete company or to call only several persons these are once a group of 9 persons, then one special alarm squad of 4 and the commander himself. |
1996 |
The last truck of the "old"
type a civil defence hose supply truck has to be given away
and is not replaced by one of the same type.
As a replacement, we receive a tanker which was before in service at the professional Co 1. The tanker received additional seats in the cabin and the complete set of material required for the classification as en engine but kept the larger water tank. We now are called not not only to second alarm fires, but to every incident whithin our area at which the officer in command demands additional engines. |
2000 |
At night and during the weekend, we will be called to every standard alarm fire whithin our area from Jan 01 on. |
2004 |
On April 08 th we recieved a new transporter on "Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 208 CDI" chassis. |
